What SHOULD robots do for us?

To begin exploring this idea, we'll study some programming.  Linked below is a programming aptitude test comprising of elements involving logical reasoningnumerical problem solvingpattern recognitionability to follow complex procedures, and attention to detail. This does not require any knowledge of programming.  For some it comes naturally; some have to work at it, but everyone can code. Try your best, this will help me help you.

Solve for the member forces on the truss below (the same one we did in class)

  • isolate one joint at a time.
  • draw an FBD for that joint
  • Use trig to break member forces into x and y components
    • ADx = ADcos()
    • ADy = ADsin()
  • set up equilibrium equations to solve for member forces
  • Repeat until you solve for all member forces (hint: start at joints that have the least number of forces)

In Class - Energy Source Presentation
  • Create a short presentation (ppt, google presentation, prezi, your choice) on the energy source you chose yesterday. (Each group is different)
  • Keep it short and sweet. Give us basics. How does it work? Pros/Cons? Infrastructure needs?
  • Give credit for pictures you use, tiny text below them, nothing fancy. Details on the 1.2.1 handout.
  • Work with your partner(s) and use the 1.2.1 checklist to improve the presentation. Who's going to say what? Everyone speaks.
  • Post your presentations on ITS when finished. We present tomorrow, Wednesday, unless we drop, I don't have a schedule in front of me, but you'll figure it out.
